F1 in Schools is a STEM program for High School aged Students from year grades 7 – 12. It can be implemented by schools as an extra-curricular program or integrated into the curriculum, usually as a Design and Technology unit.

F1 IN SCHOOLS INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP
-
We offer an F1 in Schools introduction session here at YMC for students joining the program. This is a 90 minute workshop explaining all project stages, equipment demonstrations and practice racing on the F1 in Schools track. The workshop is followed by an exclusive behind the scenes venue tour of the circuit. Price is AED 95 per student and accompanying teachers are free. Click here to learn more!

F1 IN SCHOOLS COMPETITION CATEGORIES

THERE ARE THREE MAIN CATEOGRIES:
Test Driver Challenge – a basic come and try / taster style category that focuses on car design, make and race. All program content online at the Yas in Schools Supportal
Rookie Category – simpler design rules and project requirements. All team members must be first time participants and max 15 years of age at time of competition
Professional Category – Returning students or over 15 years of age
The winners of the Rookie and Professional category at the National Final gets to represent the UAE at the F1 in Schools World Finals

Design Tools – get free Autodesk 3D design software supported by special F1 in Schools tutorials – CLICK HERE
Student Teams – Form your student teams of 3-6. Students can access F1 in Schools learning channel and our support website to learn more.
Project Plan – Team roles decided and project plan developed. Conduct research around previous F1 in Schools teams and designs – check out our gallery – CLICK HERE
Design and Analyse – Students reference F1 in Schools tutorials to design and analyse their F1 in Schools cars - see the learning channel for more information
Manufacture - Car bodies must be CNC machined. Schools who don’t have access to these tools can send designs to YMC for manufacturing and we return the machined car body along with the standard wheels and accessories kit. Learn more about our Manufacturing Services and costs – CLICK HERE
Other Project Elements – teams develop their portfolio, display and verbal presentation content in line with the scorecards found in the Competition Regulations document. At a school level teachers may choose to reduce the scope of work for ease of implementation. Teams progressing to National Competition than can expand to include all the judging areas.
Optional In-School Competition – If you have several teams and need to choose the best for National Final entry - Assess portfolio and verbal presentation elements at school. Teams can visit YMC for your school race day or we can bring a race setup to your school. See highlight from Emirates International Schools F1 in Schools Competition. Race track hire starts at AED 2100 including our team doing the setup and operations and consumables.
National Final – Best school teams enter the UAE National Final. Usually, a maximum of three teams per school, but sometimes we accommodate more.

We also provide car CNC and 3D printing services for schools who don’t have access to these technologies. You don’t need to have the equipment at your school to be able to participate.
