What are Qualifynals?

All teams wishing to enter the Yas in Schools National Finals will be required to enter the qualiyfinals, this includes Formula Ethara, F1 in Schools and 4x4 in Schools. This is a new stage to the competition designed to ensure teams are better prepared for the national finals and to cater for a larger number of team entries. This round of the competition is open to all schools and is free of charge.

How many teams can each school enter?

Each Yas in Schools program has different team entry limits.

• Formula Ethara - maximum of 8 teams.
• F1 in Schools - maximum of 4 rookie teams and 4 professional teams.
• 4x4 in Schools - maximum of 3 development and 3 professional teams.

What needs to be submitted?

Each team will need to submit a 4-page sample portfolio based on the content described in the qualifyinals scorecard which can be found in the competition regulations for each Yas in Schools program: this can be downloaded from our website. It is essential for teams to stick to the content described in the scorecards as points will not be awarded for content outside of what is described in the scorecards. 

The 4-page sample portfolio is that it not intended to be any extra work for teams, it is work we would have expected them to have completed by April if they are planning to participate in the National Finals. All work within the 4-page sample portfolio can be used again for project element in the National Finals.

Please note that this is a digital online submission and no physical items are required to be submitted nor is there a racing element to qualifynals.

How and when to submit

The deadline for submitting the 4-page sample portfolio is April 26th, this applies to all Yas in Schools programs.

Note: We will only accept entries from schools who have registered to participate in our programs for the academic year 2023-24. We will reach out to you if this is outstanding. 

After the submission deadline, we will inform the registered lead teacher from each school via email whether their teams have been successful and will proceed to the national finals. 

We advise teams to assume they will be attending the national finals and work on all project elements required for this alongside the 4-page sample portfolio. Leaving the national finals project elements until after April 26th will not leave enough time to fully prepare for the national finals.
